Dear Mrs. Gaffney:
I have become very interested in going to nursing school after I graduate from Ohio University. I understand that your nursing school is among the best and I would feel privileged to be a student in your program. I will be returning to the Cincinnati area after graduation in June and believe that I have necessary qualifications to get into your school of nursing.
While working to obtain my bachelor’s degree I was placed with several sports teams on campus and at local high schools as an athletic training student. I obtained over 1,000 clinical hours. These valuable experiences helped me increase my teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills. I would like to share those skills with your staff at the Christ Hospital School of Nursing. While obtaining my high school degree at Anderson I assisted the head athletic trainer and became very familiar with how things worked. I worked closely with the current staff and that helped me form good relationships with them.
I believe the combination of my clinical and undergraduate experience is well-suited to the position of a nursing student. I have enclosed a copy of my resume with additional information about my qualifications. I plan to call you next week to confirm that you received my resume and to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely yours,
Ashley Bowen
